Lapwing Lodge Outdoor Centre…

Lapwing Lodge Outdoor Centre is the jewel in West Region’s crown. It is situated on the Gleniffer Braes above Paisley and has been used by Scouts since 1968 as a place for fun, adventure and learning.

The Hostel

Lapwing has indoor accommodation for up to 76 split between the east and west wings of the hostel, each dormitory sleeping 4 with two dorms in the west wing sleeping 6 each.

Each wing has a dining room, sitting room, multiple toilets and shower rooms.

The kitchen area is split, with a dedicated area for each wing, and both are well stocked with a gas cooker, fridge-freezer and a sink as well as cooking pots cutlery and crockery. The hostel can be let as one or separate wings.

The Camping Field

Lapwing has an impressive 25 acre camp site situated in a mix of moorland, grassland and woodland. The camping field can accommodate around 300 campers. The facilities include a wash up area, utility room (including washing machines, fridges and freezers), toilet and shower facilities, a camp fire circle, alter fires and a games hall.

The Games Hall

The games hall can be used as a wet weather refuge or for games. There are many games available including: table tennis, carpet bowls, sumo suits, giant Jenga and board games.

On site there is Caplaw Reservoir where Lapwing provides kayaking, canoeing and rafting. In the wooded areas there is a bike trail and bicycles suitable for Cubs (8-10 years) to adult sizes. Lapwing also boasts archery, both indoors and outdoors, high ropes course and an assault course.

Lapwing’s facilities can be hired for the evening, day, weekend or longer.

Lapwing is available to all community groups and not just the Scout Association. There was even a wedding there in early 2015.
