From the River Clyde to Loch Lomondside, Dunbartonshire District nestles in some of the most fantastic natural playgrounds Scotland has to offer.
Scouting in Dunbartonshire is diverse with groups in both busy towns and small villages.
With 13 Groups across the District, the area is well served for people looking to experience the fun and adventure in Scouting.
Dunbartonshire’s Groups meet in Clydebank (2), Old Kilpatrick, Dumbarton (2), Vale of Leven (2), Cardross, Helensburgh (2), Rhu, Rosneath and Arrochar. All of them offer all sections.
Dunbartonshire also has a healthy Explorer section with seven units meeting regularly. All Explorer sections offer Duke of Edinburgh awards as well as working towards the Queens Scout award.
The District also has a Young Leader Group and boasts a number of camp sites. These include the Scout hall in Rosneath, which has a large field next to the hall allowing for both indoor and outdoor camping. The Scout hall in Cardross also has both indoor and outdoor camping right on the banks of the Clyde. The Helensburgh group has also acquired a large field right on the shores of Loch Lomond offering some excellent greenfield camping.
With both Loch Lomond and the Clyde on their door step, many groups make use of this for water based activities offering the chance to gain valuable qualifications from the national awards bodies.
The District also boasts Ben Lomond and many local Munros which allows lots of groups to work with Mountain Leaders to enjoy some fine views at the top of the majestic mountains. This also allows for some excellent ski-ing opportunities in the winter months. Due to its excellent location, Dunbartonshire welcomes groups from all over the UK each year.
