For full details and to register\, please visit the original event page: https://scouts.scot/event/challenge-hike/ \nBack this year at Lochgoilhead\, the Scouts Scotland Challenge Hike aimed at Scouts and Explorers.\nNavigate your way through the stunning Arrochar Alps surrounding the centre while making your way to different checkpoints. At each checkpoint there will be challenges for you to complete with points to be won. The more points you achieve the more chance you have of being crowned winners and picking up the prizes.\nGroups will stay at the centre each night and will get breakfast and dinner at the centre with a packed lunch.\nYoung people must be in a team of 4. They must also have at least 1 leader accompanying them at centre through the weekend.\nYoung people must have ability equivalent to Hiker Badge or Navigator Stage 4 or Mountain Training Hill Skills course. During the day Beavers will participate in a series of activities based on the 6 Beaver challenge badges\, have the opportunity to meet other Beavers and explore Meggernie and its surroundings.The picnic will begin at 11am – registration will open at 10.30am. The event will finish at 3.45pm. Cost of the day will be £6 per Beaver to include activities\, juice and biscuits and a Meggernie Badge to help remind them of their day. DESCRIPTION:First Response is the minimum first aid requirement for volunteers in Scouting. It covers the skills and knowledge necessary to manage an incident and provide basic first aid. \nFirst Response has been designed to cover key medical emergencies and conditions relevant to Scouts and Girlguiding\, supporting members from Squirrels through to Adults. \nThe content is regularly reviewed based on current first aid practice and incident reporting to Headquarters to make sure it remains valid to the movement. First Response is a minimum requirement. We’ve got seven different week-long programmes that participants can choose from – each programme will lead to a different set of Badges at the end and most also lead to a National Governing Body award. This means that Explorers can choose their own adventure.Adventure Week: For those new to Explorers or who are unsure what to specialise in\, all your usual Lochgoilhead activity favourites but enhanced for this week. This could be sailing down to our bigger more challenging shoreside crag with brilliant views or a full mountain day on one of the surrounding scenic Arrochar Alps.Walking Expedition: This is ideal if you are looking to complete the expedition element of the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award or the Chief Scouts Diamond Award. You’ll start the week by planning your own expedition route\, set off on your chosen adventure and wrap up the expedition with a group debrief on Friday morning.Paddlesport Skills Week: We’ll focus on improving your paddling skills by introducing\, exploring\, and practicing simple strategies and safe techniques\, that will enable you to solve common paddling issues.Sail and Power Week: Over the course of the week\, you will work towards achieving the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 2 Award and the RYA Level 2 Powerboat Award.Hills and Rock Skills Week: Over the course of the week\, you will work towards gaining two Mountain Training awards. This week is ideal for anyone who wants to explore the hills and crags that surround Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead.Bushcraft Week: A much more chilled and relaxed week. Throughout the week you will have chance to develop your practical skills and try some different bushcraft techniques. It covers the skills and knowledge necessary to manage an incident and provide basic first aid. \nFirst Response has been designed to cover key medical emergencies and conditions relevant to Scouts and Girlguiding\, supporting members from Squirrels through to Adults. \nThe content is regularly reviewed based on current first aid practice and incident reporting to Headquarters to make sure it remains valid to the movement. First Response is a minimum requirement. SUMMARY:The Scottish National Scout Regatta

For full details and to register\, please visit the original event page: https://scouts.scot/event/the-scottish-national-scout-regatta-2/ \nThe Scottish National Scout Regatta is an annual event for Scouts\, Explorers\, Network and Leaders. It is open to any Scottish Scouting member who is over 10. You don’t have to be a Sea Scout or have been to a regatta before. It is about taking part\, having fun\, socialising\, making new friends and getting wet.\nThere are opportunities to take part in different water events as well as a range of land activities. You don’t have to enter every event but you should have previous experience for the events you’re entering. The ethos of the regatta is all about giving it a go and having fun.\nThere are there are different watersports such as sailing \, canoe\, kayak and paddleboarding. Each event will be split into three different age groups\, Scouts\, Explorers and Network/Leaders. \nSailing – single-handed and crewed \nPaddling- Kayaks\, Open Canoe and Paddleboard\nWhen not competing on the water there are lots of other activities on offer\, such as high ropes\, bushcraft\, archery and more. SUMMARY:Mountain Training: Hill and Moorland Training

This course is ideal for: People who lead groups in the hills or might venture away from obvious paths but won’t encounter mountain hazards like steep rocky ground. Commonly used in terrain that presents an intermediate level of challenge\, for example Dartmoor\, the Peak District\, North York Moors\, Pentland Hills and the Sperrins. \nDates and costs\nThe course will run over 3 days.\nThe course costs £240 per person.
