During the day Beavers will participate in a series of activities based on the 6 Beaver challenge badges\, have the opportunity to meet other Beavers and explore Meggernie and its surroundings.The picnic will begin at 11am – registration will open at 10.30am. The event will finish at 3.45pm. Cost of the day will be £6 per Beaver to include activities\, juice and biscuits and a Meggernie Badge to help remind them of their day. Tea and coffee will also be available throughout the day for the supporting adults (donations towards this will be most welcome!) \nAll participants will be required to bring the following: \nA picnic \nSuntan lotion and a sun hat \nWaterproofs \nA full change of clothes \nA plastic cup \nHow to bookPlease contact Judith to book. Get ready for an even bigger and better adventure than ever before! \nWhat is the event all about?We’re taking things to the next level. We’ve got seven different week-long programmes that participants can choose from – each programme will lead to a different set of Badges at the end and most also lead to a National Governing Body award. This means that Explorers can choose their own adventure.Adventure Week: For those new to Explorers or who are unsure what to specialise in\, all your usual Lochgoilhead activity favourites but enhanced for this week. This could be sailing down to our bigger more challenging shoreside crag with brilliant views or a full mountain day on one of the surrounding scenic Arrochar Alps.Walking Expedition: This is ideal if you are looking to complete the expedition element of the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award or the Chief Scouts Diamond Award. You’ll start the week by planning your own expedition route\, set off on your chosen adventure and wrap up the expedition with a group debrief on Friday morning.Paddlesport Skills Week: We’ll focus on improving your paddling skills by introducing\, exploring\, and practicing simple strategies and safe techniques\, that will enable you to solve common paddling issues.Sail and Power Week: Over the course of the week\, you will work towards achieving the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 2 Award and the RYA Level 2 Powerboat Award.Hills and Rock Skills Week: Over the course of the week\, you will work towards gaining two Mountain Training awards. This week is ideal for anyone who wants to explore the hills and crags that surround Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead.Bushcraft Week: A much more chilled and relaxed week. Throughout the week you will have chance to develop your practical skills and try some different bushcraft techniques. You will also get chance to try out some different natural shelters.Younger Leader Training Week: What to develop your leaderships skills and make a difference in your local Scout Group? This immersive programme will equip you with essential skills through hands-on activities and challenges. Over the course of the week you’ll complete the learning for all modules within the Young Leaders’ Scheme.As part of our Promise to the Planet we’re encouraging Explorers to make use of their National Entitlement/ Young Scot Card and use public transport to get to Scout Adventures Lochgoilhead. It is open to any Scottish Scouting member who is over 10. You don’t have to be a Sea Scout or have been to a regatta before. It is about taking part\, having fun\, socialising\, making new friends and getting wet.\nThere are opportunities to take part in different water events as well as a range of land activities. You don’t have to enter every event but you should have previous experience for the events you’re entering. The ethos of the regatta is all about giving it a go and having fun.\nThere are there are different watersports such as sailing \, canoe\, kayak and paddleboarding. Each event will be split into three different age groups\, Scouts\, Explorers and Network/Leaders. \nSailing – single-handed and crewed \nPaddling- Kayaks\, Open Canoe and Paddleboard\nWhen not competing on the water there are lots of other activities on offer\, such as high ropes\, bushcraft\, archery and more. Through short classroom discussions\, outdoor lectures and outdoor activities\, this course will cover the seven Leave No Trace principles and discuss outdoor ethics in the UK.\nRLSS National Water Safety Management – The National Water Safety Management Programme embraces contemporary approaches to risk management by balancing the need for simple pro-active safety management practices\, with a strong focus on preventative measures along with effective emergency response skills.\nREC Emergency Care Level 2 – The outdoor first aid course is designed to introduce a systematic way of first aid for managing casualties. For full details and to register\, please visit the original event page: https://scouts.scot/event/meggernie-almost-haunted/ \nWhat is it? – An Explorer event with a ghoulish twist!\nYou should arrive on Friday night though the programme doesn’t begin until Saturday morning. Friday night will therefore be a chance to set up camp then chill out getting to know some of the other participants.\nSaturday will be packed with activities.\nA gentle start on Sunday morning followed by more activities before packing up and heading for home by 2pm.\nThe camp is under canvas\, bring your own tents.\nThe camp is fully catered starting with a light supper on Friday night and including lunch on Sunday.\nWhat does it cost? The cost of the event is £58 per person. This includes camp fees\, food\, activities but travel is not included.\nPlaces will be allocated on a first come basis. For full details and to register\, please visit the original event page: https://scouts.scot/event/young-leader-training-weekend-3/ \nOur very popular Young Leader Training Weekend is back due to popular demand!\nThis training weekend is an amazing opportunity for Young Leaders to achieve the training requirements of the role through a combination of leadership training and practical outdoor activities.\nThe course will introduce leadership skills and awareness using practical activities and tasks to create an understanding of the implications of leadership. Participants will leave with modules A\,B\,C\,D\,E\,F\,G\,H\,I\,J. Module K (first aid) and missions will need to be completed locally to complete the award. Each participant will leave with a logbook to chart progression\, which must be signed by the leader overseeing their volunteering. \nWhat you’ll be doing\nWe have created a varied programme that is adapted to suit the needs of individual groups whilst enabling our team of instructors to pass on their extensive knowledge. Our team has extensive experience and has developed a range of leadership methods and techniques through years of coaching outdoor activities. Young Leaders will be taking part in and have the opportunity to lead activity sessions\, such as rock climbing\, high ropes\, team building\, and wide games. We have opted for a practical programme\, carefully picking activities to match the requirements for the Young Leader’s training scheme. \nWhat kit do I need?\nPlease note this weekend will mainly take place outdoors\, therefore participants will need clothing for the conditions.\nOnce booked on the course\, you’ll be sent a consent form and a nights away passport\, these should be signed and handed in upon arrival. \nImportant Notes for arriving to the event:\nPlease arrive between 7pm- 7.30pm for a 7.30pm start. Please note there will be evening sessions on the Friday evening and please eat before you arrive as there is no evening meal provided on Friday. \nCost\nThe cost of this weekend is £99.
