Graham to lead Paisley & District

We are delighted to announce that Graham Reid has been appointed as the new District Commissioner and Lead Volunteer for Paisley and District Scouting.
Graham, who has been acting into the role for several months, takes up the role with immediate effect.
Acting Regional Commissioner and Lead volunteer for West Region John Kitson said: “Graham has been very successful in consolidating the District team and supporting the local Groups during his time so far.
“We are sure Graham will do an excellent job and wish him every success in his new role.”
Graham said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to be District Commissioner and Lead Volunteer for Paisley & District Scouts, something which I have been a part of for more than 30 years.
“I look forward to working with a newly formed District Team to restart our District Programme with some old favourites and hopefully some new adventures too.”
Graham has been involved with Scouting since joining Beavers at six years old. He has been on countless Scouting trips and adventures at home and abroad. This has included many trips across Europe with PAGGS, which he is still involved with today. He also attended the 100th Year Celebration of Scouting at the World Jamboree in 2007 in London, EuroJam in 2005 and the Irish Jamboree in 2008.
His Leadership roles started at Paisley Abbey group where he was Assistant Scout Leader, before a short break for university studies and returning to take on the role as Assistant Explorer Scout Leader.
In 2011 he identified a “gap in the market” in local Scouting and set up the Paisley and District Scout Network (PDSN) which quickly grew to one of the biggest in Scotland. PDSN has delivered almost 10 Queen Scouts and also ran its own Explorer Belt to Ireland in 2013.
Graham was Assistant Regional Commissioner for Network for a short time, before taking a “back of house job” as Deputy District Commissioner for Paisley & District over the last six years. For the last six months he has been the Acting District Commissioner in Paisley and District.”
